It’s like sipping on a decadent dessert that’s secretly packed with nutrients, making it an ideal breakfast shake or a luxurious post-workout treat. Each ingredient melds together to create a symphony of flavors that not only satisfies your sweet tooth but also leaves you feeling nourished and energized.

Figs are a great source of dietary fiber, contributing to digestive health and helping to keep you feeling full longer. They also contain vitamins and minerals such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium. Almond butter adds heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and vitamin E, an antioxidant that protects your cells from damage. Bananas are known for their high potassium content, essential for heart health and muscle function, while milk provides a good dose of protein and calcium, vital for bone health.

BlendJet Smoothie Making Tools

A standard blender is all that is required to make BlendJet smoothies. If you are making a smoothie for just one person, we recommend using the amazingly portable BlendJet 2 as as it is quick to set up and very easy to clean.

If you are making them for more than one person, we recommend a higher-end Vitamix blender that can process larger loads more efficiently.

For overnight storage, we recommend using a glass or BPA-free airtight container with a resealable lid.

How To Make The Fig And Almond Butter Protein Shake

The BlendJet Fig And Almond Butter Protein Shake smoothie is very easy to make:

  • Step 1: Place banana, figs, milk, and almond butter into a BlendJet blender and secure the lid.
  • Step 2: Start the blender on its lowest speed and steadily ramp up to its highest speed. This will reduce wear and tear on the motor and blades, facilitate a more consistent blend, and help prevent food splatter onto the lid and sides.
  • Step 3: Blend for approximately 30 seconds or until a smooth consistency is achieved.
  • Step 4: Pour into a glass for immediate refreshment or place in the refrigerator in an airtight container to enjoy later.

Recipe Tips And Substitutions

For ease of use, we recommend peeling and slicing a number of bananas, putting them in a freezer bag, and storing them in your freezer for quick access.

If you don’t have frozen fruit, or simply prefer to use fresh fruit (we totally get that), we recommend adding 1/2 cup of ice to chill your smoothie and give it a pleasing icy texture.

If you’re looking for a dairy-free option, any plant-based milk like almond, soy, or oat milk will work wonderfully in place of cow’s milk.

For those with a nut allergy, sunflower seed butter can be a great alternative to almond butter.

If you want to boost the fiber content or add some greens, a handful of spinach or kale can be blended in without significantly changing the taste, thanks to the strong flavors of fig and almond butter.

Smoothie Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use dried figs instead of fresh in this protein shake?

Yes, dried figs can be used as a substitute for fresh figs in this protein shake. Since they’re more concentrated in flavor and sweetness, you might want to use fewer dried figs than you would fresh ones. It’s also a good idea to soak them in warm water for a few minutes before blending to soften them up, ensuring a smoother consistency in your shake.

What can I use instead of almond butter if I’m allergic to nuts?

For those with nut allergies, sunflower seed butter is an excellent alternative to almond butter in this shake. It provides a similar creamy texture and a slightly different but equally delicious flavor. Another option is tahini (sesame seed paste), which also offers a rich, nutty taste without the nuts, making your shake just as creamy and satisfying.
